CADI Mission Statement

MISSION STATEMENT

As sociologists, we recognize that mainstream institutions reflect the values, perspectives and unacknowledged assumptions of dominant groups. In response, the Committee for the Advancement of Diversity and Inclusion (CADI) works to turn a critical sociological lens on our own department, reflect upon our practices, and devise strategies for continual growth. Overall, we seek to promote a climate that welcomes and affirms people and perspectives that are often marginalized and excluded from the academy. To achieve this, we provide support and programming to foster community and cultivate practices so that all people can be valued, successful members of our department.
