Felix Puemape

Felix Puemape is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Notre Dame. A comparative political scientist, he studies contemporary state building, with a focus on the role of politics in how bureaucracies develop and professionalize unevenly across countries. His multi-method research combines cross-national panel data, survey experiments, and interview-based fieldwork in Bolivia, Chile, and Peru, and currently centers on the attractiveness of public administration careers among people with tertiary education in different world regions. In a related line of work, he studies the determinants of identity entrepreneurship among political leaders. In 2026, he received a fellowship from the Electoral Integrity Project. He holds a PhD from Temple University (2024) and previously held a visiting assistant professorship at Washington and Lee University.
