Kelcie joined the Department of Sociology at Notre Dame in 2012. Her research is in the areas of family, culture, and consumption, with a particular interest in identity, materiality, media and processes of meaning-making. Her master's thesis investigated emotion work and commodification practices among lifestyle bloggers, and her dissertation research explores the cultural construction of home buying in the US. She has worked with professor Jessica Collett on a project about fatherhood identity among men in low-income communities, and with professor Terence McDonnell on research regarding material culture.
