Center for the Study of Social Movements' McCarthy Award Lecture

-

Location: Hesburgh Center for International Studies Auditorium

Kathleen Blee is the 2016 recipient of the John D. McCarthy Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Scholarship of Social Movements and Collective Behavior. The award honors scholars who over the course of their careers have made outstanding contributions to scholarly literature concerned with social movements, protest, collective violence, riots, and other types of collective behavior.

Blee will present "The (un)Happy Marriage of Far-Right Studies and Social Movement Theory" at 4:30 pm in the Hesburgh Center for International Studies Auditorium. Her talk will be followed by the award banquet at 6:30 pm in The Oak Room in the South Dining Hall.

The award ceremony will take place in conjunction with CSSM's Young Scholars in Social Movements Conference, a gathering of distinguished graduate students and recent Ph.D.s from around the country. More than a dozen young researchers will have the opportunity to present "works in progress" for feedback from Blee and a panel of leading social movement scholars.
