Sociological Theory, Qualitative Methods, Microsociology
JJ Christofferson earned his MA in sociology at the University of Northern Colorado. His masters’ thesis explored how a small group constructed feelings of belonging in its members, despite the existence of conflicting ideologies within the group. He also looked at how the group’s local context provided members with unique ways to interpret the differences between one another.
JJ’s primary interests include sociological theory, qualitative methods, and microsociology. What holds JJ’s interests together is his symbolic interactionist/social constructionist approach towards the problem of how small groups shape and are shaped by the identities of their members. When he isn’t working on academic pursuits, JJ can be found indulging his life-long addiction to skateboarding.
