Profile
Daniel Escher received his M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and his B.A. degrees (with College Honors) from University of Washington (International Studies, Spanish). As a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, he currently researches the social effects of coal mining in central Appalachia. He studies more broadly the effects of energy production on civil society organizations, demography, and social stratification and the ways that civil society attempts to alter and transform energy production. In his research, Daniel uses both qualitative and quantitative methods, including GIS, survey analysis, participant observation, and interviews. His prior work has investigated the role of sensation-seeking on religiosity, clergy and congregant responses to divorce, and forgiveness.
