In 2004 Monique earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University at South Bend. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the Student Excellence in Sociology Award. She then earned a Master’s Degree of Science from Purdue University in 2006 where she studied religion, qualitative methods and Native American culture. As Monique finishes her Doctoral studies at Notre Dame her substantive areas of interest include gender, religion and social psychology. In addition to earning a Ph.D. in Sociology, Monique is also pursuing a graduate minor in the Gender Studies Program at Notre Dame. For her dissertation she plans to study global secularization.
At Notre Dame she is active in the Kaneb Center for Teaching and also represents the student body on the Graduate Studies Committee. Monique has worked as a graduate research assistant for Christian Smith, David Sikkink and Michael Welch in the Center for the Study of Religion and Society. She teaches Introduction to Sociology, the Sociology of Religion, and Religions of the West at Indiana University at South Bend and is prepared to teach Social Problems and Social Psychology.
