Profile
Robert M. Fishman is a comparative sociologist who works largely in the area of political sociology and to a lesser extent in the sociology of culture, economic sociology and the sociology of religion. His books include "Democracy's Voices: Social Ties and the Quality of Public Life in Spain" (Cornell University Press, 2004); "Working Class Organization and the Return to Democracy in Spain" (Cornell University Press, 1990); and [co-edited with Tony Messina], "The Year of the Euro: The Cultural, Social and Political Import of Europe's Single Currency" (University of Notre Dame Press, forthcoming). He is also the author of articles on regime transitions, labor movements and related themes. Fishman's current research projects include a comparative analysis of enduring legacies of reform and revolution in transitions to democracy and (with Keely Jones) a cross-national study of the evolution in priestly vocations.
