Profile
Dr. Chrobot attended the University of Notre Dame, Indiana University, and the University of Michigan. In 1970, he was named an outstanding educator of the United States. He served as Dean of Saint Mary's College, Orchard Lake, from 1968 to 1977, and as President from 1977 to 1987. Dr. Chrobot's research centered on the movement in society from traditional to contemporary culture and its implications in education. He has published numerous articles and delivered lectures at over fifty colleges and universities on the concept of "The New Ethnicity," a growing awareness in our country that we are a nation of groups, culturally distinct but mutually interdependent, each striving to preserve the best of a heritage in a culturally pluralistic society.
In the 1970's he testified at the White House and before the House and Senate of the United States in behalf of ethnic studies and the passage of the Ethnic Heritage Studies Center Bill. Dr. Chrobot also worked with the National Center for Urban Ethnic Affairs, Washington, D.C. since its inception in 1971. In 1979 he co-founded the National Polish American-Jewish American Council -- a dialog group of Polish Americans and Jewish Americans who deal with areas of mutual concern.
